The best online alternatives to supermarket delivery

With a second lockdown meaning supermarket delivery slots are scarce again, why not try one of these great online delivery alternatives. Sit back and shop from the safety and convenience of your own home.

Amazon Fresh

If you pay for Amazon Prime, you should take a look at getting your everyday essentials from Amazon Fresh. Or, if there not in your area yet, you can also try Morrisons same-day delivery from Amazon – just sign up and wait for your invite.

Morrisons food boxes

Although ordering groceries from major supermarkets is tricky at the moment, Morrisons currently have a good availability of food boxes containing essentials. These include vegetarian and meat-eater boxes, as well as speciality Christmas hampers and ready-to-eat meals, and they range from between £25 and £45 per box.

Waitrose Rapid same-day delivery

With Waitrose Rapid you can choose up to 25 items and get them delivered to your door on the same day. A £10 minimum spend and £5 delivery charge does apply, though with Waitrose making more slots available throughout the year, it could well be worth the premium.

Isolate London (UK wide)

If you’re in need of those lockdown household essentials like toilet roll, toiletries and cleaning products, then Isolate London offers affordable Isolation Packs delivered to your door, wherever you are in the UK. They offer a small selection of food and drink options too – such as water, teabags and vegetable boxes.

JJ Foodservice

This food wholesaler also offers their services to the general public, with branded groceries as well as cleaning and household products. JJ Foodservice provide home delivery or collection from their 11 branches throughout the country.

First Choice Produce

Fine dining needn’t be off the menu during lockdown. First Choice Produce normally service the hotel and restaurant industry in London, but are now delivering fresh fruit and veg to households across Central London, Greater London and a few locations outside of London, for a small delivery charge.

Recipe boxes

Want to reduce your waste while you’re at home? Recipe boxes are great because they only deliver what you need. There are many great recipe box companies out there; two of our favourites are HelloFresh and Mindful Chef. Both allow you to choose the meals you want to make and deliver the fresh ingredients direct to your door.

Local farm deliveries

If the supermarkets are letting you down, a lot of local suppliers are also delivering. Farmdrop cover customers in the London area, while Fresh Farm Deliveries deliver to West Yorkshire and Lancashire. The easiest way to find somewhere near you is to type ‘farm delivery near me’ into a search engine.

With all these great home delivery alternatives, there really is no reason to worry about getting your essentials during lockdown.

Stay safe.
