Make your own facemask
As of the 15th June 2020, it’s mandatory to wear a facemask on public transport in England. If you don’t know where to look to purchase one – or don’t want to take away from NHS or key worker supplies – it’s pretty easy to make a basic mask for yourself.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have outlined a couple of different variations of how to make a mask. One version requires sewing, the other doesn’t. You can follow the guides here.
If you don’t have any cotton fabric to use for your mask, we also have a nifty solution that requires nothing but a humble sock. This video by Polly Irvene shows you exactly how to do it.
And what about adding a few handy extras? Check out this how-to from Raising Nobles on YouTube that shows you how to include a nose wire (for a closer fit around the face) and a filter pocket (you can buy filters here )… Although these additions may be easier if you have a sewing machine.
With these tips you should be ready to go. But remember to maintain your 2m social distancing. Stay alert and keep safe.
