Are you ready to walk this way?
Walking is a great way to get out and enjoy the fresh air. But it also gives you the opportunity to explore your local area and potentially find a few hidden gems
– who knows, you might stumble across your next favourite coffee shop or pub.
If you need a little inspiration for interesting places to walk, there are some great resources out there…
The National Trust is a brilliant place to start. You’ll find an amazing range of walks, as well as garden visits and country house recommendations too. Perfect for all the family, you’ll usually find a café to quench your thirst after a stomp around the surrounding area too. They also have a handy list of things to do at home to keep the whole family busy this summer.
If you’re looking for something a little more adventurous then check out Ramblers.org.uk, where you’ll find some great options for walks close to home – from hikes along the riverside, to city exploration or a nice county amble.
If you’ve got a pedometer (most smartphones and smartwatches have one built-in) then why not set up a weekly walking challenge with friends. See who can walk the furthest – with forfeits for the loser.
Just remember, if you’re walking through the countryside or in places that you’re not familiar with, it’s important to check that you’re not trespassing on private land. If you’d like more help finding places where you have the right to roam, check out FootPath Map.
It’s time to step up.
